South Fork Conservancy names new executive director
Environmental conservation organization South Fork Conservancy has named Kayla Altland as its new executive director.
Altland, former director of grantmaking at Park Pride, will spearhead the nonprofit’s efforts to conserve the South Fork of Peachtree Creek.
Altland is a graduate of Cornell University, with a masters degree from Agnes Scott College. She worked for the National Park Service in youth and community outreach programs and with the D&H Canal Historical Society in High Falls, NY in development and communications.
“We’re thrilled to have Kayla Altland join us as Executive Director as we begin the next phase of our important conservation work,” Conservancy Chair Jennifer Ide said in a press release. “Kayla’s experience has prepared her well for this new challenge and we are confident that our best days lie ahead with the benefit of her vision and leadership.”
The Conservancy has built more than five miles of nature trails along the South Fork and spurred development of several parks along the way. The trail system includes the $2.5 million Confluence Bridge that will connect to the Atlanta BeltLine, PATH 400, and the Peachtree Creek Greenway. Read more here.
