Brookhaven, GA, June 18, 2025 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its June 17 meeting.
- During a Special Called Meeting, the Mayor and Council held the third presentation and public hearing of the FY 2025 Millage rates, which was considered later in the agenda (see below).
- The Mayor and Council deferred a variance application for a childcare facility on Apple Valley.
- The Council approved an ordinance to amend the 2025 Confiscated Assets Fund Budget, appropriating $197,236 from the Confiscated Assets Fund Balance for the purchase of a SWAT equipment vehicle and vehicle upfitting.
- The Council approved an ordinance to amend the 2025 General Fund Budget, appropriating $120,000 from Non-Departmental Contingency Expense Line for outside legal services.
- The Council approved an ordinance to amend the 2025 Capital Improvement Plan and 2023 SPLOST Budgets, appropriating $196,000 for soil remediation and landscape work for the Murphey Candler II Trail Project.
- The Council approved an ordinance to amend Chapter 14 Art. II Tree Preservation and Maintenance.
- The Council approved a resolution to establish a policy for City-managed street improvements on privately owned roads where all costs are borne by the property owners.
- The Council approved a resolution authorizing use of eminent domain to acquire easement from 4047 Ashford Dunwoody Road Northeast needed for completion of the Ashford Dunwoody Road Multi-Use Path.
- The Council approved a resolution authorizing execution of a Memorandum of Understanding for a shared SWAT equipment vehicle.
- The Council approved a resolution authorizing financial commitments to ARC Transportation Improvement Projects.
- The Council approved the following resolutions to adopt the following millage rates:
- General Fund Maintenance and Operation millage at 2.74.
- General Fund Bond millage at 0.47.
- Special Service District Fund millage at 4.00.
- Special Tax District Fund millage at 12.00.
- The Stormwater Fund assessment rate set to $142 for Equivalent Residential Units.
- The Street Light District assessment rate set to $39.69 per parcel.
- The Council approved a task order to A&S Paving, Inc. in the amount of $140,000 for Berkford Circle - storm sewer rehabilitation.
