SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES
Assist the Correspondent Division CFO with the month-end close process, consolidation, financial preparation, and financial analysis. To follow the policies and procedures of The Correspondent Division (Company), a wholly owned operating subsidiary of SouthState Bank (Bank), exercising competency, courtesy, and concern for the development of the Company and the Bank.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist with completion of monthly and quarterly variance analysis
- Maintain and analyze other assets/liabilities/accruals to ensure proper recognition of income/expenses in appropriate accounting periods
- Ensure general ledger integrity is maintained through timely reconcilements and proper classification to accounts and responsibility centers
- Reconcile debt capital markets securities inventories
- Reconcile and review of general ledger & bank use accounts under corporate accounting responsibility
- Maintain and update the general ledger system for new accounts and responsibility centers to meet the reporting requirements of management for the Company, Bank and holding company
- Maintain and assist in the development of automated accounting systems and process improvements
- Prepare accurate general ledger entries that are accompanied by supporting documentation for the Company, Bank and holding company
- Prepare monthly reports and corresponding journal entries for month end
- Prepare debt capital markets monthly journal entries and monthly financials
- Assist with regulatory, compliance, and internal and external audit issues related to the Company
- Assist in preparation of monthly registered representative commission statements
- Assist with the Company’s Correspondent Division reporting and financial analysis
- Accept other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s in accounting
- Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience
- Certifications/Specific Knowledge: Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office; good understanding of accounting systems; understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports. This position requires a large amount of time in front of a computer. This can be done sitting or standing with use of the right desk.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is located in a private office. The position is located inside a cooled and heated facility with ability to go to a break room or rest room during breaks. Telecommuting roles no matter if hybrid or 100% full time telecommuting must have a secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred.
Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered.
