To provide a forum for women in business to form relationships with their peers, provide an educational platform, give back to the community and be a source for professional women to be mentored. The Women's Business Network will focus on the areas of Networking, Community, Education and Mentorship.

Topic: The Way Forward: Imagining Education for a Globalized Sandy Springs
Dr. Marlene MacLeish is Professor of Medical Education at Morehouse School of Medicine and Senior Education Fellow of the National Space Biomedical Research Institute (NSBRI). She led the NSBRI Kindergarten–Undergraduate Education and Public Outreach Team, comprised of: Baylor College of Medicine, Rice University-University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Morehouse School of Medicine, Mt Sinai School of Medicine and the Colorado Consortium for Earth and Space Science Education. She has been: Dean of Students and a member of the faculty, Harvard School of Public Health; Associate Dean of Students, the City University of New York Medical School; and Acting Vice President of Student Affairs at The City College of New York. She was a member of the Emory University Board of Visitors and is a member of the Board of Trustees of International Academy of Astronautics, France.
In 2010, Professor MacLeish received an honorary degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, for her global contributions to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and her Master of Education and Doctor of Education degrees from the Harvard University. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses, mentored students; directed an inquiry-based teacher professional development institute; and published on race and science education. She is a national and international spokeswoman for science and health sciences education. She has presented papers and chaired sessions on STEM education in Canada, Scotland, Greece, Austria, Italy, Russia, China, Nigeria, South Africa and France. She has published widely, is executive producer of two radio series, Biomedical Science for Space Travelers, Sleep on Earth and in Space, and a documentary film, Exploring Two Frontiers and was a Fellow of the Council of Science Writers. She is the recipient of The Woman of Distinction Award from Brescia College University – University of Western Ontario, Canada, and of the 2007 Stellar Award for pioneering new models for exemplary teaching, training and public outreach in support of NASA’s Vision for Space Exploration, from the Space Achievement Foundation, Houston Texas. She is the recipient of several national grant awards for science education.
