Small Business Council Educational Series: Understanding Restrictive Covenants

Small businesses in Georgia face a number of risks and concerns when they try to use restrictive covenants to limit competition, solicitation of their clients and employees, or to protect their confidential information.  Given recent changes in the law on these issues, restrictive covenants in Georgia are often misunderstood, leading to confusion for business owners, entrepreneurs and other professionals.  This seminar will discuss basic principles of restrictive covenants that small businesses should be aware about and will also offer various practical ideas to help Georgia businesses make appropriate decisions.
 
Aaron Chausmer is a sole practitioner in the Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area.  His practice focuses on providing small business with general counsel and representing them in court, if needed.  Mr. Chausmer has represented businesses and employees in various restrictive covenant matters throughout his career.  Mr. Chausmer has lectured often on the topic of restrictive covenants in Georgia.

Mr. Chausmer is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association and is a participant in its Litigation and Sole Practitioner/Small Firm sections. He is also a member of the Lawyer’s Club of Atlanta and the American Bar Association. Mr. Chausmer has also previously been appointed by the Georgia Supreme Court as a Mentor for the State Bar of Georgia’s Transition Into Law Practice Program.
